2025: SED Center Hosts School-Based Oral Health Program

For over 50 years, the SED Center has provided bilingual education programs for children ages 3 months to 4 years, their families, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. We help build the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for our families to navigate an increasingly multilingual, multicultural society.

2025: SED Center Hosts School-Based Oral Health Program

Through a partnership with the D.C. Department of Health, Howard University College of Dentistry, and Gordon Dental Associates GDA 4 KIDS, the SED Center was pleased to host the School-Based Oral Health Program (SBOHP) last week. This initiative provides comprehensive preventative dental services at no cost to families for children aged 2 and older. These services include dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants, as well as referrals for restorative dental care through Howard University College of Dentistry.

Funded entirely by D.C. Medicaid, the SBOHP is accessible to all enrolled children, regardless of their insurance status. Every child at the SED Center received their dental screening during the program’s recent visit.

A través de una colaboración con el Departamento de Salud de D.C., la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Howard y Gordon Dental Associates GDA 4 KIDS, el SED Center tuvo el placer de recibir la semana pasada el Programa Escolar de Salud Oral (SBOHP). Esta iniciativa ofrece servicios dentales preventivos integrales sin costo alguno para las familias de niños de 2 años en adelante. Estos servicios incluyen exámenes dentales, limpiezas, tratamientos con flúor y selladores dentales, además de referencias para tratamientos dentales restaurativos a través de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Howard.

Financiado en su totalidad por Medicaid de D.C., el SBOHP está disponible para todos los niños inscritos, independientemente de su estado de seguro. Todos los niños del SED Center recibieron su evaluación dental durante la reciente visita del programa.
