Read Across America Week at SED Center: Day 5

Welcome!

For over 50 years, the SED Center has provided bilingual education programs for children ages 3 months to 4 years, their families, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. We help build the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for our families to navigate an increasingly multilingual, multicultural society.

Today, we culminated our Read Across America celebration with a fantastic final day filled with music, storytelling, and special gifts! Our students enjoyed a lively reading of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat by our very own SED Center teacher, Raynier Hernandez, bringing laughter and excitement to the classroom.

We were also thrilled to welcome Heart & Soul DC once again, with Sole Galarza & Esteban Araque, who filled our space with their beautiful music throughout the week. As a token of appreciation, our students gifted them with handmade cards, artwork, and SED Center T-shirts—a heartfelt thank-you for making this week truly unforgettable.

To continue fostering a love for reading, our students were also gifted books to take home! A huge thank you to Heart & Soul DC, our amazing teachers, and everyone who made this week so special. Reading and music bring joy, creativity, and learning together—what a perfect way to celebrate!

Hoy culminamos nuestra celebración de Read Across America con un día final lleno de música, lectura y regalos especiales. Nuestros estudiantes disfrutaron de una divertida lectura de El Gato Ensombrerado de Dr. Seuss, a cargo de nuestro maestro Raynier Hernández, llenando el aula de risas y emoción.

También tuvimos el placer de recibir nuevamente a Heart & Soul DC, con Sole Galarza & Esteban Araque, quienes nos acompañaron con su increíble música durante toda la semana. Como muestra de agradecimiento, nuestros estudiantes les obsequiaron tarjetas hechas a mano, dibujos y camisetas del SED Center—un pequeño gesto para agradecerles por hacer de esta semana una experiencia inolvidable.

Además, para seguir fomentando el amor por la lectura, ¡nuestros estudiantes también recibieron libros para llevar a casa! ¡Gracias a Heart & Soul DC, a nuestros maravillosos maestros y a todos los que hicieron esta semana tan especial! La lectura y la música nos unen con alegría, creatividad y aprendizaje—¡qué mejor manera de celebrar!
