VOLUNTEER
If you are interested in volunteering with the SED Center, please email our Volunteer Program Director Doris Ruano at [email protected].
The SED Center's volunteer program is the life support of the Center. In the last fiscal year, more than 185 volunteers provided well over 14,034 hours of services for the SED Center.
Volunteers contribute to the development and enhancement of the Center's community programs. They serve as teacher aides in both the children's and adult programs, help us with fundraising and communications, and help keep our organization running.

Recruitment and Training Process
We have on-going recruitment for volunteers for the Children’s Program, administration/office help, and fundraising/communications. Volunteers working with the Children's Program may start working in the classrooms after they receive a job description, go over the preschool volunteer manual, and submit a health form. The Adult Program offers three 10-week sessions per year. We recruit these volunteers two to three month before each session and provide a series of orientations and workshops to give volunteers the necessary skills to perform their jobs as ESOL Teacher's Aides.
