Welcome!

For over 50 years, the SED Center has provided bilingual education programs for children ages 3 months to 4 years, their families, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. We help build the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for our families to navigate an increasingly multilingual, multicultural society.

iThrough the community service program, St. Anselm’s encourages the students to share their talents with non-profit organizations in the area. At the same time, the program hopes to make students more conscious of both the needs of society and of their own strengths.

For over 20 years, the SED Center has been working in partnership with St. Anselm’s Abbey School hosting its students in order for them to fulfill their graduation requirements. This year, 7 boys come every Tuesday to the Center to help as teacher’s aid in the Children’s Program. Volunteers help the classroom teachers supervise children, prepare educational materials, interact with children by reading stories, teaching, and playing games and songs, and work with children in small group activities designed by teachers.

Here is what they said about their experience at SED:

James McFeeters
“Working with the children at SED is a lot of fun”

John Korzan
“Working with the little children at SED is a treat. I never had younger siblings but these kids are great substitutes”

Giancarlo Montes
“The SED Center has helped me understand the importance of children education as well as the necessity for children to learn English and Spanish.”

Ryan Dalbec
“Working at SED, I really enjoy working with the very young children in a variety of activities such as playing, teaching, etc. The kids are a lot of fun to be around and it’s a pleasure for me whenever I come.”

Daniel Maldonado
“I enjoy working and helping the children in these great facilities and alongside caring teacher at the SED Center.”

Sebastian Mazza
“It’s really a pleasure to work with these kids, see them growing and learning everyday and being able to help a little too.”

Mathew Hayden
“I like playing with the children. They may be unruly at times, but this is an opportunity I’m glad I took.”
